Big Dig Colorado is a high-energy, family-friendly event where kids and adults – including cancer patients and survivors – get the opportunity to climb into real construction equipment and operate it in a safe, hands-on environment.
This unforgettable experience is packed with fun, fuels learning, and brings the community together, all while supporting a powerful mission. Big Dig Colorado proudly benefits the American Cancer Society, helping fund critical pediatric cancer research.
While construction sets the stage, Big Dig Colorado also includes local first responders, and welcomes businesses from every industry. With more than 3,000 attendees, partners can connect with the community, elevate brand visibility, and inspire the next generation – while making a lasting impact.
Join us on September 26, 2026! Every ticket purchased and every partnership formed helps move us closer to ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.
Doug has been an invaluable volunteer leader with Big Dig Colorado since its inception in 2018. A cancer survivor himself, Doug brings both heart and dedication to the event, playing a key role in recruiting sponsors and securing the construction equipment that kids and families get to climb into and operate.
“It’s amazing to see kids having fun with the equipment in a safe environment while showing families what we do in the industry.” – Doug

After accidents, cancer is the second leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14. Because of major treatment advances in recent decades, 85% of children with cancer now survive 5 years or more. Still, survival rates can vary a great deal depending on the type of cancer and other factors. The American Cancer Society uses a comprehensive approach to working to end childhood cancer as we know it, for everyone, by leveraging our unique strengths in funding the best research; publishing the most current trends in childhood cancer occurrence and survival; providing information on symptoms, early detection, treatment and support for children with cancer and their families; and working to improve the quality of life for childhood cancer patients and survivors.
Learn MoreFor more than 10 decades, the American Cancer Society has been dedicated to pursuing better outcomes for every cancer, every life. Today, more people are surviving cancer than ever before, but there is still work to be done. Join us, support us, and help us end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
